The United States has launched another round of military strikes on Iran, escalating tensions in the Middle East. The attacks came just hours after Donald Trump warned that Washington would respond strongly to Tehran's actions. According to the US military, the operation was carried out in retaliation for attacks on commercial vessels in the Hormuz Strait, one of the world's most strategically important shipping routes.
The US Central Command stated that the strikes were aimed at further degrading Iran's capability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Hormuz Strait. The latest military action follows Tuesday's attacks on three oil tankers, which prompted Washington to intensify its response. Meanwhile, Iranian forces reportedly targeted US military bases in the Persian Gulf, raising fears of a wider regional conflict as both sides continue to exchange military strikes.
