Opposition is mounting in the United States Congress against President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods. Members of the House of Representatives Deborah, Mark Veasey, and Raja Krishnamoorthi have introduced a resolution demanding the withdrawal of these tariffs.
They stated that the tariffs are unlawful and warned that such measures could severely damage long-standing India–US relations. Lawmakers expressed concern that the move could negatively impact trade and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Meanwhile, the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also triggered intense discussions within the US political circles. The developments have caused noticeable unease in Washington.
Experts believe that these unfolding events together could prove to be a political setback for Trump, placing his decisions under increasing scrutiny.
