DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of betraying the alliance for political gains. He alleged that Congress had depended on the DMK for the past two decades but was now joining hands with rival forces for power. Udhayanidhi urged party workers not to forget the “betrayal” and claimed that Congress leaders should not be welcomed back into the DMK fold in the future.
Udhayanidhi further stated that he once believed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were solely responsible for the BJP’s repeated electoral victories, but now feels the Congress party’s inefficiency has also contributed significantly. He pointed out that Congress had secured Rajya Sabha and Assembly seats in the past only because of the DMK alliance. Referring to the recent elections, he said Congress managed to win seats due to the hard work of DMK cadres, but later prioritised power politics. He also urged DMK workers to focus on internal corrective measures following the party’s electoral setback.
