Tushar Gandhi Backs CJP Protest, Demands CEC’s Resignation

Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi joined the CJP protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2. The demonstration, led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid a dispute over electoral-roll revisions. Addressing the gathering, Tushar Gandhi expressed his support for Dipke’s movement and backed the protesters’ demands.

Several prominent personalities, including actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, and singer Vishal Dadlani, were also present at the protest. The Election Commission has disputed the allegations surrounding its decisions related to voter rolls. The demonstration has since drawn attention amid the ongoing debate over electoral-roll revisions and the functioning of the Election Commission.
