Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao strongly criticised BRS leaders, accusing them of neglecting farmers’ welfare during their tenure. Speaking at the state-level farmers’ fair in Hanamkonda, he alleged that the previous BRS government failed to implement proper loan waivers for farmers over the last ten years and burdened them with huge interest liabilities. He said people rejected the party in elections because of its failure to support farmers.
Tummala stated that despite financial challenges, the current government waived farm loans up to Rs. 2 lakh and deposited Rs. 31,000 crore into the accounts of 22 lakh families through banks within three months. He also responded sharply to criticism over urea supply, saying the government managed to distribute sufficient fertilisers despite global disruptions caused by wars. The minister said the government remains committed to farmers’ welfare and accused opposition leaders of trying to gain political mileage from farmers’ hardships.
