The sacred Tirumala Laddu controversy has resurfaced with new shocking revelations. Last year, the nation was shaken when reports emerged that adulterated ghee- allegedly mixed with animal fat—was used in preparing the holy laddus. Following public outrage, the Supreme Court transferred the case to the CBI, which continues its probe.Meanwhile, the state government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has unearthed fresh evidence. The report names “Chinna Venkanna,” a close associate of then-TTD Board Chairman and current Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, as the key middleman behind the fake ghee procurement.
According to the SIT remand report, Chinna Venkanna allegedly demanded a commission of ₹25 per kg of ghee from the supplier, Bhole Baba Company. When the company refused, he reportedly used his influence to block their contract and ensured that another company—Premier Agrifoods—was chosen instead, as they agreed to pay the demanded commission. These revelations have once again raised serious questions about the sanctity and transparency of operations within Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), leaving devotees deeply disturbed.
