Former U.S. President Donald Trump has made strong remarks as the Supreme Court continues hearing challenges against the tariffs he imposed on foreign nations. Speaking at an event in Pennsylvania, Trump warned that if the Supreme Court rules against his tariff policies, it could severely compromise America’s national security. He criticized the ongoing lawsuits filed against the tariffs, claiming that his tariff strategy generated hundreds of billions of dollars for the United States. Trump also asserted that the country would witness even greater achievements if he is allowed to continue his economic agenda.
Posting on social media, Trump expressed concern that any adverse ruling by the Supreme Court could strip America of essential economic protection. He stated that the U.S. would respond to other countries exactly the way those countries behave with America, and insisted that no one should interfere with such decisions. According to Trump, the tariff measures he implemented significantly strengthened U.S. national security.
Trump had earlier used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose sweeping tariffs on several countries. However, some courts blocked these actions after allegations that he had violated federal laws while exercising the authority granted under this act. Subsequently, the U.S. government approached the Supreme Court, where the matter is now under review.
