In a dramatic development, US President Donald Trump revealed that he personally called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and warned him against escalating military action in Lebanon. Trump claimed that had he not intervened, Netanyahu might have faced imprisonment. Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the ongoing strikes, Trump stated on Truth Social that he urged Netanyahu not to launch major attacks on Beirut, following which Israeli forces were pulled back. He also referred to Netanyahu as “Bibi” and thanked him for responding to his advice. Reports suggest that the conversation between the two leaders was intense, with Trump allegedly criticizing Netanyahu for Israel’s growing global unpopularity.
Trump further disclosed that his administration engaged in indirect talks with Hezbollah leaders through mediators, leading to a temporary understanding to halt attacks on Israel. This development comes amid rising tensions in West Asia and warnings from Iran that continued aggression could disrupt diplomatic relations with Washington. Trump also mentioned that negotiations with Iran are progressing rapidly, expressing hope that both sides will avoid further escalation and maintain peace in the region.
