US President Donald Trump made strong remarks, saying, “We are going to win, and we will win even bigger.” He asserted that his administration would use alternative legal measures on retaliatory tariffs and clarified that congressional approval would not be required. Speaking for over 100 minutes at a joint session of the US Congress, Trump argued that the American economy is stronger than many believe. He also used the platform to indirectly appeal for support in the upcoming elections. During the address, he introduced special guests, including war veterans and an Olympic hockey team, and announced the Presidential Medal of Freedom for goalkeeper Hellebuyck.
Trump further stated that his goal is to resolve the Iran issue through diplomacy. He reiterated that millions of lives would have been lost if he had not intervened to stop tensions between India and Pakistan, claiming Pakistan’s Prime Minister had praised him. Defending tariffs as protective measures for the nation, Trump criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling against them as unfortunate and accused Democrats of damaging the country.
