Following his return as President, Donald Trump has taken several decisive steps. Acting on his orders, the US military carried out airstrikes against ISIS targets in Nigeria’s northeastern Sokoto State on Thursday. The operation was conducted at the request of Nigerian authorities and was described as a powerful and lethal strike.
Reacting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the action was aimed at terrorists responsible for attacks on innocent Christians. He warned that continued violence against Christian communities in Nigeria would invite tougher measures, stressing that the United States would not allow radical Islamic terrorism to grow under his leadership.
The strikes were later confirmed by the US Africa Command, though officials did not disclose casualty figures. The operation follows a series of deadly ISIS attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, prompting the Nigerian government to seek US military support.
