The Qatar government has gifted a Boeing 747-8 luxury jet worth nearly $400 million (around ₹3,400 crore) to Donald Trump. Previously used by the Qatari royal family, the aircraft has been modified for presidential travel with advanced security systems, confidential communication facilities, and defense technology installed by L3Harris Technologies. With delays in Boeing’s new Air Force One project, this jet is being used as a temporary “Bridge Air Force One.”
Trump described the aircraft as “truly magnificent” and even showcased it to US military personnel at RAF Mildenhall in the UK. However, during his NATO trip, he surprisingly chose to return on the older Air Force One, sparking speculation. While Trump hinted at threats from Iran, officials denied security concerns. The gifted jet has also triggered political and ethical debates in the US, especially over foreign influence and upgrade costs.
