US President Donald Trump has announced major good news for American soldiers by declaring a special “Warrior Dividend.” Under this initiative, each eligible service member will receive $1,776, credited directly to their bank accounts. Trump stated that the decision was taken to honour the service and sacrifices of the armed forces. Nearly 1.4 million soldiers across the country are expected to benefit, with the amount likely to be credited before Christmas, translating to approximately ₹1.60 lakh per person.
Addressing the nation on Wednesday, Trump said the funds were made possible through increased tariffs and the passage of what he called the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” He expressed happiness in announcing the special dividend for 1,450,000 soldiers and confirmed that checks had already been sent. Trump added that the government generated far more revenue than expected through these measures and felt the money should be put to the best use by supporting the military.
There is also a historical significance behind the $1,776 dividend. In 1776, the United States declared its independence from British rule. By choosing this amount, the US government aims to symbolically honour the nation’s history while recognising the contribution of its soldiers. Trump extended his greetings to all service members, calling the move a tribute to their dedication and commitment.
