Following the completion of three-phase gram panchayat elections in Telangana, the state government has announced a training program for newly elected sarpanches, to be conducted after Sankranti.
The training, organized under the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments, will focus on village governance, utilization of funds, development planning, conduct of gram sabhas, panchayat laws, and the roles, responsibilities, and powers of sarpanches.
Officials stated that district-wise training sessions will be held, with each batch consisting of 50 to 100 participants. As Telangana has over 12,000 gram panchayats, the program will be implemented in phases.
The Panchayati Raj department clarified that the training will commence only after a meeting between the sarpanches and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Officials believe this initiative will significantly help newly elected representatives perform their duties more effectively and strengthen rural development across the state.
