The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has suffered another political setback after actress and Rajya Sabha MP Koyel Mallick resigned from her membership in the Upper House. Her resignation comes just four months after she was elected to the Rajya Sabha, making the development significant in West Bengal's political landscape. Soon after stepping down, Koyel met Union Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi, triggering speculation that she may soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
With Koyel Mallick's resignation, the number of TMC MPs who have resigned from the Rajya Sabha has risen to four. As a result, the party's strength in the Upper House has declined from 13 members to 9. While there has been no official confirmation regarding her political future, her meeting with the senior BJP leader has intensified discussions over a possible shift in allegiance.
