Former CIA Director Leon Panetta criticized Donald Trump, saying the conflict with Iran is a problem created by Trump himself. Panetta said the Trump administration entered the conflict without proper preparation, even though there were clear warnings that Iran might close the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil transport.
He explained that the attacks did not weaken Iran as expected. Instead, they pushed the country into the hands of more hardline leadership, making the situation even more complicated. According to Panetta, the strategy did not achieve its intended results and instead increased tensions in the region.
Panetta also pointed out that rising fuel prices in the United States and growing public opposition have put Trump under pressure. Surveys show that about 59% of Americans are against the conflict, which has made the political situation more difficult for him.
