BRS leaders were reportedly placed under house arrest by the police ahead of their proposed visit to the newly opened TIMS Hospital in Sanath Nagar. Former ministers Harish Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav were detained at their respective residences. Tension was reported outside Harish Rao’s residence in Kokapet as a large number of police personnel were deployed. LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy also reached the location after learning about the house arrest. BRS leaders alleged that they were prevented from visiting the Sanath Nagar TIMS hospital.
Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav said they wanted to visit the hospital to ascertain the ground realities and bring issues before the public. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government was resorting to house arrests and detentions to prevent alleged shortcomings in government hospitals from coming to light. He condemned the restrictions, saying opposition leaders were being detained for raising public issues and accused the government of attempting to suppress the opposition. Several BRS leaders from Sanath Nagar and Ameerpet divisions were also reportedly placed under preventive detention.
