High tension prevailed in Hindupur of the undivided Anantapur district after TDP workers allegedly vandalised the YSRCP office. Furniture, television sets, glass panels, and other equipment were destroyed, and YSRCP workers who tried to intervene were reportedly attacked as well.
The violence is said to have been triggered by comments made by Venureddy, husband of YSRCP in-charge Deepika, against MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, who represents Hindupur.
Venureddy criticised Balakrishna, stating that the people of Hindupur had lived like “slaves” for the last 40 years and accused the MLA of staying in Hyderabad instead of being available to the constituency. He urged locals to “wake up” and take control of their own governance. His sharp remarks sparked intense reactions.
Angered by his comments, TDP supporters stormed the YSRCP office in Hindupur and caused severe damage. Images and videos of broken chairs, shattered glass, fans, and damaged electronic items have gone viral on social media.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly condemned the attack. He stated that the assault was not just on his party office but on democracy itself. Jagan expressed concern over the lack of police action, calling it a worrying sign for democratic values.
