High political drama unfolded in NTR district’s Ibrahimpatnam early this morning as police surrounded the residence of former minister and senior YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh. A large contingent of officers arrived at his house before dawn, sparking intense speculation and political tension across Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, police are likely to arrest Jogi Ramesh in connection with an alleged illegal liquor manufacturing case. However, no official statement has yet been released by the authorities.
It may be recalled that large quantities of spurious liquor were recently seized in Ibrahimpatnam and Mulakalacheruvu areas. The prime accused, Janardhan Rao, who is currently in police custody, released a video alleging that the illegal liquor was produced under the instructions of Jogi Ramesh to defame the then Chandrababu Naidu-led government. He also accused the former minister of abandoning him after the case surfaced.
What’s surprising is that Janardhan Rao, while in custody, managed to release a video despite earlier claiming that his phone was missing — raising several questions about how the clip was created.
Meanwhile, Jogi Ramesh has strongly denied all allegations, accusing Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh of framing him for political revenge. Recently, he took an oath at the Durga Temple in Vijayawada, declaring before his family and devotees that he had no connection with the fake liquor case. He even challenged Chandrababu and Lokesh to take a similar oath if they were truthful.
The police operation at Jogi Ramesh’s residence has now become the talk of the state, with YSRCP leaders alleging that it is a politically motivated move to arrest him. More details are expected to emerge soon.
