At the Mahanadu event, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh announced a historic proposal to provide 33% reservation for women in the 2029 general elections, regardless of whether the Women’s Reservation Bill is implemented in Parliament or not. He stated that the party is committed to strengthening women’s participation in politics and decision-making roles. Lokesh said the initiative reflects the party’s responsibility and long-term commitment towards women empowerment.
He further said that women should not remain just beneficiaries of welfare schemes but should become leaders and policymakers. Criticising opposition parties for allegedly blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill, Lokesh asserted that TDP believes in women empowerment both in principle and practice. He also stressed the need to change social attitudes that disrespect women and said the party would continue supporting equal opportunities for women in all sectors.
