Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan has suggested the use of glass water bottles in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly while responding to a recent discussion on drinking water arrangements in the House. In a statement issued on Monday, she referred to comments made during an Assembly debate in which former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam humorously remarked that glass bottles could become a concern if legislators threw them in anger during heated exchanges.
Tamilisai stated that after assuming charge as the Governor of Telangana, she had initiated measures to make Raj Bhavan plastic-free and introduced the practice of providing water in glass bottles to guests. Drawing from that experience, she suggested that the Tamil Nadu Assembly could also consider a similar approach. She remarked that even if small glass bottles were thrown, they would not cause significant harm, adding a lighter note to the ongoing discussion on sustainability and water distribution practices in legislative institutions.
