West Bengal has witnessed its first-ever BJP government as Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the new Chief Minister on Saturday. The ceremony was held at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, where Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several Union Ministers and NDA Chief Ministers, attended the grand event.
At 55, Suvendu Adhikari becomes the 9th Chief Minister of West Bengal. A former key leader of the Trinamool Congress, he joined the BJP in 2020. He played a crucial role in BJP’s rise in the state and defeated Mamata Banerjee in key constituencies during the 2021 elections. Several BJP leaders also took oath as ministers alongside him.
