Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made significant remarks regarding the state’s pension expenditure. He stated that in the last 18 months, his government had spent ₹50,000 crore solely on pensions.
During his visit to Gopinathapatnam of Unguturu mandal in Eluru district, the Chief Minister distributed pensions to beneficiaries and later visited an agriculture exhibition arranged in Unguturu. He then addressed a public gathering.
Chandrababu noted that the Super Six welfare programs implemented by the government had become a major success. He added that even states wealthier than Andhra Pradesh do not spend such large amounts on pensions.
He further announced that the government plans to spend ₹1.65 lakh crore on pensions over the next five years and that currently 13 out of every 100 people in the state receive pensions. He reiterated that the government is fulfilling election promises one by one and will continue to stand by its commitments despite financial challenges.
