Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sunetra Pawar, wife of the late Ajit Pawar, was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Saturday. The oath ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, where Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the other Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, ministers from the ruling alliance and other political leaders attended the event. NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and MP Supriya Sule were notably absent.
By taking the oath, Sunetra Pawar became the first woman to hold the Deputy Chief Minister position in Maharashtra. She assumed this role following the recent plane accident in which Ajit Pawar tragically lost his life.
