Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has strongly criticized the Narendra Modi-led central government's stance on the developments in Gaza. She said the government's silence over Israel's actions is morally unacceptable and contrary to India's national interests.
In an article published in a national daily, Sonia Gandhi expressed concern over India's approach towards Palestine, Iran, and the broader developments in West Asia. She alleged that the Centre's policy is distancing India from its traditional allies and global public opinion, while creating space for Pakistan to play a mediating role.Referring to a report by a team led by retired Justice S. Muralidhar, she noted that more than 22,000 children have been killed and nearly 44,000 others seriously injured in Gaza so far, highlighting the humanitarian crisis in the region.
