Former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was questioned for nearly four hours and fifty minutes by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the sensational phone tapping case. The inquiry was conducted on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his residence in Nandinagar, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, beginning at 3:00 PM.
A six-member SIT team led by an ACP-rank officer questioned KCR in detail. Only his legal counsel was permitted to be present during the interrogation. Officials reportedly focused on key aspects such as who authorized the phone tapping, whether direct instructions were given to intelligence officials, and the source of funds used to procure specialized surveillance equipment. The SIT also confronted him with statements given by arrested police officials in which his name was allegedly mentioned. In addition, investigators questioned KCR about how phone recordings surfaced during the earlier MLA poaching case. The SIT is expected to submit a detailed report, including KCR’s statement, to the court. Based on the findings, notices may be issued to other key political figures.
