Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday following his resignation. The meeting focused on the formation of a new government in the state and the composition of the cabinet. Sources indicated that Siddaramaiah also discussed his political future and expressed his preference to remain active in Karnataka politics rather than moving to the Rajya Sabha. During the discussion, he reportedly placed several demands before the party leadership.
According to party sources, Siddaramaiah requested a key ministerial portfolio for his son Yathindra and sought representation for his loyalists in the new cabinet. He is also believed to have insisted on the allocation of important departments such as health, education, or backward classes welfare. Additionally, he submitted a list of leaders for cabinet and MLC appointments. After the meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah also met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to further discuss the developments.
