AP Congress president YS Sharmila strongly reacted to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s announcement of a padayatra, questioning its timing and intent. She remarked that the padayatra is clearly aimed at regaining power and asked what Jagan had actually done for the people when he was in office. Sharmila questioned why irrigation projects launched under the YSR Jalayagnam were left incomplete and why election promises were ignored after coming to power. Speaking at the Congress office in Vijayawada, she alleged that a leader who spoke about prohibition allowed liquor to flow freely and accused the previous government of making huge profits through spurious liquor.
Sharmila further criticised Jagan, stating that the condition of Rushikonda after he came to power speaks for itself. She questioned whether Jagan ever met the public as Chief Minister or even gave appointments to his own party leaders. Referring to his governance, she said power did not suit Jagan and that his nature must change. She added that unless selfishness reduces and a genuine commitment to public service emerges, neither God nor the people will bless him. Questioning the purpose of the proposed padayatra, Sharmila asked why Jagan is not undertaking a march for MGNREGA workers and labourers, demanding clarity on whom the padayatra is meant for and what benefit it would bring to the people.
