The nomination process for the Vijayawada Corporation elections has gained momentum even before seat-sharing arrangements among alliance partners have been finalised. According to the information provided, alliance candidates filed 19 nominations today. The move has added to the political activity within the alliance, as discussions over which party will contest from individual divisions are still underway.
Meanwhile, some aspirants are reportedly preparing to contest as independents if their preferred seats are not allotted to them. A few candidates have said they are filing nominations at the request of party leaders and because they consider the day auspicious. The early filings could add pressure to the alliance leadership as it works to resolve seat-sharing differences. The candidates’ next steps will become clearer once the final allocation of seats is announced.
