Elections have been completed in 8,566 gram panchayats across the state, with the Congress party emerging clearly ahead by a huge margin. Congress secured 5,275 sarpanch posts, accounting for 61.58 per cent of the total. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) finished in second place with 2,330 seats (27.20 per cent), while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stood third, winning 453 seats (5.29 per cent).
Independent candidates and others together won 483 seats, representing 5.63 per cent of the total. The Election Commission officially announced these results. Meanwhile, polling for the third phase of the gram panchayat elections is scheduled to be held on December 17.
