A political controversy has erupted after Tejasvi Surya compared the bifurcation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with the India–Pakistan partition. Reacting strongly, K. T. Rama Rao condemned the remarks, stating that equating Telangana’s formation with a divisive historical event reflects ignorance and arrogance. He demanded an unconditional apology, asserting that such statements insult the self-respect of Telangana’s people and undermine the sacrifices of martyrs.
Echoing similar sentiments, T. Harish Rao said the Telangana statehood movement was the result of decades of struggle involving students, youth, employees, and the public. He emphasized that comparing this historic movement to a communal partition distorts history and diminishes the sacrifices made. Harish Rao demanded that Surya apologise immediately for making such remarks in Parliament and for hurting the sentiments of Telangana citizens.
