Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren received relief from the Supreme Court of India on Wednesday, as the bench granted a stay on the money laundering case registered by the ED. The court heard Soren’s petition seeking to quash the case filed against him and to restrain the agency from issuing repeated summons.
Along with granting the stay, the Supreme Court issued notices to the Enforcement Directorate seeking its response. The ED had filed the case in a special MP-MLA court alleging illegal cash transactions in a land scam. Challenging the case, Soren had earlier approached the trial court and the High Court before moving the Supreme Court.
