A major political setback has hit the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after three rebel MLAs submitted their resignations to the Speaker in Chennai. MLAs Kumar Vel, Jai Kumar, and Sathyabama formally resigned amid growing political tensions within the party. The development has intensified speculation over shifting political equations in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
The rebel legislators had earlier extended support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam during the trust vote and are now reportedly preparing to contest the by-elections on TVK tickets. The MLAs also held a crucial meeting with Minister Adhav Arjuna, further strengthening reports of their political realignment. The resignations are expected to create fresh challenges for the AIADMK leadership in the state.
