Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has alleged that the ruling Congress and opposition BRS have a “quid pro quo” understanding to shield each other from corruption allegations. Addressing the media at the BJP state office on Friday, he said the two parties were trading accusations against each other instead of taking concrete action. Rao questioned the Congress government over its earlier promise to act against alleged corruption during the previous BRS regime and claimed that no arrests had been made in the cases referred to by him.
Rao also criticised the government over teachers’ issues, alleging that GO 190 was not being properly implemented. He claimed that nearly 4,000 teachers were eligible for transfers or deputations under the order, while only around 100 to 200 had benefited. He condemned the reported arrests of teachers protesting near Gandhi Bhavan and demanded that their grievances be addressed. He also urged the government to release an instalment of Rythu Bharosa before the rabi season to support farmers. During the meeting, television personalities Swarnalatha and Laxman, along with senior cameramen Suresh and Mahesh, joined the BJP under the leadership of party State Cinema Cell co-convener Vaibhav Surya.
