Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi devised a plan for vote theft in India, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah implementing it and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar carrying it out. Speaking at a rally in Margao, South Goa, on Sunday, Gandhi claimed that those involved would eventually face consequences. He said more than 45 defamation cases had been filed against him, including by people close to Modi and Shah, but no case had been registered over his allegations of vote theft. He alleged that his opponents were reluctant to initiate legal proceedings because the issue could turn into a full-fledged legal battle. Gandhi also participated in the ‘Goa Rakho Yatra’, walking around two kilometres alongside party leaders and workers.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju alleged that anti-national groups and some political leaders were conspiring to trigger violence in India similar to incidents witnessed in France and Bangladesh. In a post on X on Sunday, Rijiju claimed that these groups were attempting to provoke young people. He said India was different from France and Bangladesh and stressed that any change of government in the country must take place through elections. The remarks came amid a political exchange over allegations of electoral malpractice and concerns about attempts to incite unrest.
