Tamil Nadu's political landscape has been shaken by the alleged ‘Project Meghalaya’ controversy after TVK MLA N. Elaiyaraja claimed he was offered ₹35 crore to vote against his party during an Assembly proceeding. According to his complaint, the proposal was part of a larger plan allegedly operating under the codename ‘Project Meghalaya.’ Following the complaint, police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the alleged conspiracy. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the allegations or the significance of the codename.
As part of the investigation, police are examining phone records, digital communication, and financial transactions linked to the case. A YouTuber, an individual associated with a survey organization, and senior journalist Vijayan have also come under questioning as investigators verify possible connections. While the ruling TVK has alleged an attempt to destabilize the government, opposition parties have denied any involvement and demanded an impartial probe. Officials have clarified that the investigation is ongoing and no allegations have been legally established so far.
