A privilege notice has been issued to Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury, directing her to submit an explanation to the Privileges Committee by the 23rd of this month. The notice pertains to an incident during the recent Winter Session of Parliament, where she reportedly brought a pet dog in her car to the Parliament premises. Some Members of Parliament objected to the presence of the dog within the premises.
During the exchange, Renuka Chowdhury allegedly remarked that “those sitting inside bite, dogs do not,” which sparked further controversy. BJP MPs Brij Lal and Indu Bala Goswami lodged a formal complaint, alleging that she not only brought the dog but also made derogatory comments against fellow MPs. Following their complaint, the Privileges Committee issued the notice seeking clarification.
