Congress Members of Parliament denied allegations that they were preparing to attack the Prime Minister inside the Lok Sabha. They expressed strong resentment over what they called baseless accusations against women MPs, stating that such claims were made only to malign the opposition and were against the spirit of democracy.
The Congress MPs clarified that their protest was conducted in a completely peaceful and democratic manner and that they had no intention of resorting to violence in the House. Criticising the suspension of eight opposition MPs as an attack on parliamentary rights, they alleged that the Prime Minister lacked the courage to face the opposition.
