The construction of irrigation projects in the united Palamuru district has once again turned into a major political issue. Opposition parties are criticizing the Congress government, alleging that there has been no significant progress in the Palamuru, Rangareddy Project even after two and a half years in power. BRS leaders are preparing for a padayatra in June demanding the completion of the project.
The Jalasadhana Committee has opposed the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme, claiming it would harm the interests of the district. The committee urged the government to cancel the scheme and implement the Gottimukkala Lift Irrigation Project instead. Meanwhile, the BC Political JAC demanded a vigilance inquiry into alleged corruption in the Palamuru-Rangareddy Project works.
Ruling party MLAs, however, stated that the Palamuru-Rangareddy Project and other pending irrigation works would be completed by December 2027. Opposition leaders and public groups questioned how projects that showed little progress over the past two and a half years could be completed within the next two years.
