The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has warned that it may withdraw its outside support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government if the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) or its rebel factions are formally inducted into the Tamil Nadu cabinet.
CPM Tamil Nadu state secretary P. Shanmugam said in Tiruvarur that voters had rejected both DMK and AIADMK in the 2026 Assembly elections, and any alliance with AIADMK would go against the public mandate. He added that CPM extended outside support to TVK to ensure political stability and prevent potential influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party, but strongly opposed granting ministerial positions to AIADMK leaders. The TVK government led by Vijay relies on support from multiple parties, including CPM, CPI, and Congress, while no official response has been issued so far.
