Polavaram Dispute Intensifies Again Between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana!

The dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the Polavaram Project has resurfaced once again. The Telangana Government has raised strong objections to the Phase-2 works of the Polavaram Project and has written to the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA), demanding an immediate halt to the ongoing construction activities.

Telangana stated that no construction work should continue until a comprehensive survey of the submergence areas is completed. The state expressed serious concerns over the possible impact on Bhadrachalam and other affected regions. Telangana also demanded a detailed study on the drainage impact of 36 streams and objected to the revival of the Polavaram Lift Scheme. It alleged that Andhra Pradesh was proceeding with the works without obtaining necessary approvals from the Central Government and urged the PPA to intervene and stop the ongoing activities.
