Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly taken a major step towards promoting austerity within the government machinery. As part of this initiative, he instructed officials to reduce the number of vehicles in his security convoy by nearly 50 percent. Sources stated that the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for the Prime Minister’s security, has also been advised to cut down the deployment of commandos in the convoy setup.
In another important move aimed at environmental protection, the Prime Minister directed officials to use electric vehicles in the convoy wherever possible. However, he reportedly made it clear that no additional financial burden should fall on the government for this transition. Officials were instructed to utilize existing resources instead of purchasing new vehicles for the purpose.
