Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reaffirmed his belief that the 21st century belongs to 140 crore Indians, expressing confidence that India will become a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, when the nation celebrates 100 years of independence.
Addressing a gathering during his visit to Andhra Pradesh, the Prime Minister said India’s rapid transformation across sectors — from technology to defense and manufacturing — stands as proof of the country’s growing global stature.
Lauding the Make in India ecosystem, PM Modi said that India’s domestic innovation and manufacturing capabilities have reached a new level of strength. “We saw the might of our ‘Make in India’ initiative during Operation Sindoor, where home-grown technology and indigenous defense systems played a crucial role,” he said, referring to the military offensive targeting terror launchpads across the border in Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
PM Modi emphasized that India’s youth, entrepreneurs, and engineers are the driving force behind this transformation. “Today, India is exporting not just products but talent, ideas, and leadership to the world. Our startups, our scientists, and our soldiers — all represent the strength of a new India,” he said.
He also pointed out that the Make in India initiative has led to a surge in foreign investments and global confidence in India’s economic potential. “The world now sees India as a reliable partner in innovation, manufacturing, and defense,” the Prime Minister noted.
Highlighting India’s journey towards self-reliance, PM Modi said the government’s vision for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) is not about isolation but integration — ensuring India contributes meaningfully to global progress while strengthening its own foundations.
Asserting that India’s development story is people-driven, he said, “Our goal is clear — by 2047, every Indian must have access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities. This is not just a government mission; it’s a national movement.”
Concluding his address, PM Modi urged citizens to stay united and focused on the path of development, saying, “The 21st century will be written in the name of India — a confident, capable, and compassionate nation leading the world towards peace and prosperity.”
