PCC Chief Mahesh Goud expressed surprise over the remarks made by Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender on the Kaleshwaram project, questioning whether he was speaking as a BJP leader or echoing the BRS narrative. He pointed out that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) had advised against storing water or lifting it at barrages like Medigadda due to safety concerns. Despite this, Etala’s remarks supporting water lifting, similar to KTR’s stance, raised doubts, he said, adding that expert opinions should not be ignored for political statements.
Mahesh Goud further criticized BRS leaders for not addressing alleged quality and construction flaws in the Kaleshwaram project. He stated that KTR’s current criticism reflects inexperience, especially after holding power for several years. He warned that operating pumps in structurally weak barrages like Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla could be risky. Alleging massive corruption under the project, he asserted that both BRS and BJP are misleading the public, and the Congress party will expose their actions before the people.
