The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence on January 31, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha meeting on the opening day. On this occasion, President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint sitting of both Houses.
The Union Budget will be presented on February 1. Notably, this will be one of the rare occasions when the budget is tabled on a Sunday, making it a topic of discussion across political circles.
During the session, the government is expected to introduce and deliberate on several key bills. Among them is the One Nation, One Election Bill, which proposes holding simultaneous elections across the country. Another important proposal likely to be discussed involves provisions to remove Chief Ministers and Ministers from office if they remain in jail for more than 30 days.
If these bills are passed, they could bring about significant changes in India’s political and governance framework, according to observers.
