The Congress party, along with other opposition parties, has decided to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, said Congress Telangana MPs Forum convener Mallu Ravi. He stated that several MPs, including himself, have already signed the motion and that it will be formally submitted to the Speaker on Tuesday. Mallu Ravi was speaking to the media on Monday at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.
Criticising the Speaker’s conduct, Mallu Ravi alleged that Om Birla was sidelining democratic principles and pushing the BJP’s agenda. He accused the Speaker of frequently adjourning the House and violating parliamentary rules. He further claimed that Rahul Gandhi was being denied an opportunity to speak in Parliament due to fears that he would raise the issue of China’s intrusion into Indian territory.
