Opposition MPs held a meeting at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s residence to discuss their strategy against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. According to reports, the leaders decided to intensify their protests against the process, taking the campaign from Delhi to the grassroots level. They reviewed the response to Monday’s demonstration and discussed developments following the submission of a representation to the Supreme Court.
With Dussehra and Diwali approaching, the opposition leaders discussed temporarily suspending protest activities during the festive period. They also considered the possibility of resuming demonstrations after the celebrations. Meanwhile, reports indicated that some alliance leaders were unhappy with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staying away from the meeting. The opposition’s future course of action on SIR and coordination among alliance partners were among the key issues discussed.
