DMK suffered a major setback in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as Thalapathy Vijay-led TVK emerged victorious. After enjoying power for five years, Stalin’s party failed to retain public support. Political observers believe that controversial remarks made by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin during the previous government negatively impacted the party’s image among voters.
Udhayanidhi’s comments on Sanathan Dharma sparked criticism from Hindu groups and created strong political backlash. Meanwhile, Stalin lost from the Kolathur constituency and will not enter the Assembly this term. In his absence, Udhayanidhi Stalin is expected to lead the DMK in the Assembly. The development has now become a major talking point in Tamil Nadu politics.
