Organisations linked to US-born businessman Neville Roy Singham, including The People’s Forum Inc. and BreakThrough News, have reportedly refused to submit their financial records in response to a demand from the US House Ways and Means Committee. The move follows scrutiny of allegations that organisations associated with Singham have channelled funds to protest movements in France and other countries. US lawmakers have been examining the overseas funding activities of this network amid claims that it promotes the interests of the Chinese Communist Party. Allegations that the network supported student protests in France and operated across countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Greece, Brazil and India have also drawn attention. These claims and the committee’s actions should be assessed against official records and responses from the organisations concerned.
The issue has also prompted political allegations in India. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has questioned whether organisations linked to Singham had any connection with protests led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the Chief Election Commissioner, as well as the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Dubey has accused Gandhi of meeting forces allegedly working against India during foreign visits. Separately, India’s Enforcement Directorate has previously alleged that the news portal NewsClick received funds from entities linked to Singham to promote pro-China narratives. The allegations concerning Rahul Gandhi’s political activities and any links to the organisations remain distinct from the financial investigations and should not be treated as established facts without independently verified evidence.
