Nellore Collector Appoints 20 Nodal Officers for Local Body Elections

Nellore District Collector and District Election Officer Himanshu Shukla has appointed nodal officers to coordinate various aspects of the upcoming urban and rural local body elections. The appointments cover key areas such as implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, law and order, election security, manpower management, staff training, ballot paper printing and distribution, transport arrangements, election expenditure monitoring, observer coordination, media management, computerisation, webcasting and videography. Other responsibilities include postal ballots, micro-observer appointments, polling station facilities, ballot box management, voter lists and election-related complaint resolution.

The Collector instructed the appointed officers to familiarise themselves with election rules, regulations and procedures and to complete their assigned duties within the stipulated time. He stressed that the elections must be conducted freely, fairly and transparently, without giving rise to complaints. Negligence or violations of election rules would be viewed seriously. The Collector also directed the concerned municipal commissioners, the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad and the District Panchayat Officer to provide the necessary staff and support to the district-level nodal officers.
