The iconic Visakha Steel Plant, built with the slogan “Visakha Ukku, Andhrula Hakku,” is finally showing strong signs of recovery after years of crisis. With the NDA in power both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, the plant has received unprecedented support, ending privatization fears and focusing entirely on strengthening operations. In the past 17 months, the Centre provided ₹11,440 crore, and the AP government added ₹3,000 crore in assistance. This funding revived operations, increased capacity utilization from 48% to 80%, and restarted major units like the second blast furnace.
Nearly 28,000 workers have secured livelihoods, while the state ensured uninterrupted coal, water, and electricity supply. Old dues were converted into equity for long-term relief. The NDA says political propaganda is being spread about privatization, but the reality is that VSP is being rebuilt stronger than before—with continued support from both governments.
